I figured that my first post for our relaunch of Stylewhipped should (clearly) be about shoes. Shoes are my thing. My first fashion love. My way of always finishing an outfit (and often starting one!). I usually gravitate toward very-feminine-yet-still-sexy-and-edgy stilettos, but this winter, for the first time, I have had a great love affair with boots. Maybe because I finally found more than one pair to fit my tiny frame. Maybe because I actually wanted to be warm for once. Who knows. Either way...me and boots, new best friends.
However, I do not believe in spending absurd amounts of money on boots because well, let's face it...boots take the worst beating of all of our shoes - snow, slush, you name it. (Unless of course you are a major celebrity and never, ever have to step in anything icky...) So I tend to gravitate toward trend-driven yet mostly affordable brands...Steve Madden/Steven, Jessica Simpson, Michael Kors, Dolce Vita, Vince Camuto, etc. And when I recently found out about Steven's new "Freebird" line...um, all I can say is YES PLEASE. They are a little pricier, but really, really amazing. Inspired by classic Americana and what I would call a sexy rockstar of a cowgirl, they make me want to take a roadtrip (in a Mustang, of course), wear a cowboy hat (which, believe it or not, I do have...), and take pictures of red sunsets in the desert...just as much as I want to wear them to the newest hotspot in NYC with shiny leggings, a beaded top and SERIOUS diamonds. They are honestly THAT good.
So, which are my favorites? The ones that I kind of need to order rightnowthisminute?! These. The "Bolo." At $275, they are not cheap but they are also not insane. And since they already have that worn-in look to them, I could beat them up for years to come and they will only look better. That 3-inch stacked heel is perfect for all of my imagined adventures and the shaft is somewhere between a wimpy bootie and a too-warm-past-February full-on tall boot. In other words, these work from October to April and might even be (gasp!) comfortable...imagine that...
